Two wheeler
So Mikey has been begging us to take the training wheels off of his bike. Lance has taken them off and worked with him a little. I think he's still a little ways off from being able to ride the bike without training wheels, but still he needed to be properly protected. So Lance took him to the store to buy a helmet. As luck would have it, they had Spiderman gear--I think he's now more excited about his gear than actually riding the bike. :)

Have you guys heard about the 'take-the-pedals-off-the-bike' method of teaching kids to ride? It's getting a lot of buzz on the internet.
You take off the pedals and lower the seat so they can push themselves around with their feet. Supposedly it only takes a day or two for them to figure out the balance thing well enough to put the pedals back on and ride.
I was just thinking about that too. They actually sell bikes without pedals for just this purpose. A girl from church brought her twin boys to the 24th of July parade on bikes like that--and they are in the nursery!
Yeah, our neighbor bought their daughter a pedal-less bike thingy (a 'Skuut') to practice on. But it seems like kind of an expensive investment for something they'll only use for a little while.
Last we noticed, she'd abandoned the Skuut and was on a bike with training wheels. So maybe it didn't work (she's 4).
Ed's afraid that Genevieve will demand training wheels so that she can be like her friends.
